A Chicago tradition, Monastero’s has served delicious “food with flavor” to its guests since 1962. Originally La Canopy, located two doors west, siblings Gina, Joe, and Salvy Monastero renamed the restaurant Monastero’s when the existing restaurant was built in 1967. The success of the restaurant can be attributed to the hard work and personal involvement of the siblings’. Under the siblings direct culinary supervision, and using only the freshest produce brought personally from the market by Salvy, Monastero’s kitchen continues to delight its clients, presenting the perfect marriage of fine Italian food and ambiance. The Monastero’s pride of family involvement continues as the second generation are now involved.
