A Chicago tradition, Monastero's has been serving mouth-watering
Italian and Sicilian cuisine to its guests since 1962.
Originally La Canopy, located two doors west, siblings
Gina, Joe, and Salvy Monastero renamed the restaurant Monastero's
when the existing dining room was built in 1967. The success
of the restaurant can be attributed to the hard work and
personal involvement of the siblings, as well as the
continued family involvement today through the addition
of second generation family members. Under the direct culinary
supervision of the Monastero family, and using only the
freshest produce brought personally from the market by
Joe Sr. and Joe Jr., Monastero's kitchen continues to
entice its clients, presenting the perfect marriage of
fine Mediterranean food and warm, family ambiance.
